I have to say the past few weeks have been nothing but emotional for us. It's been up and down and getting round. Yep, you'll see what I mean!

On April 25th, my husband, Jesse lost his daddy, suddenly, and uexpectedly. What a rough time for all of us. Jesse did the eulogy at the service and was wonderful. They also had the Marine Corps Honor Guard there to do the presentation of the flag. Very impactful, and unforgetable. Mike was very proud of being in the military, and he served it well for many years. He fought in Vietnam and then came home to join the Coast Guard. He said he was ready to save lives, instead of destroying them. Jesse has many memories of his daddy in uniform and getting to play on base.

In the midst of all the commotion, we got to share that we are expecting our first child! We were so blessed to have joyful news to share in the shadows of what was going on. The news of a baby always brings light, and it was a much needed light this time. I know this child will bring us all joy for many years to come!

So as for the pregnancy, I'm definately FEELING IT! It's crazy how soon you just know you are pregnant. I told someone close to me that I knew thought I was pregnant two weeks before I could take the test...I was right! It's been a trying time, being that I've been experiencing what I like to call "all day sickness" on most days. Yuck! And yes, I know it's all very much worth it, but, oh boy, is it disgusting!

Jesse and I are so proud and excited, but I'm the one who is bursting at the seams....literally! I am already unable to wear most of my "normal" wardrobe, and am having to resort to other options. So, yes, I'm getting progressively rounder...day by day.

God is so faithful, and I know this baby is a gift from Him, and that makes me so happy. I am praying that He grants us the wisdom to raise this child in the way he/she should go, so that He will be honored through his/her life!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://4jessesgirl.blogspot.com/2009/05/bursting-at-seams-no-really.html' title='BURSTING AT THE SEAMS! So many of us want to "be rich", but lately so many of the "rich" have had nothing but stress, loss, suffering. I just saw on the news this morning that the CFO of Freddie Mac commited suicide. Now here is a man who had built an awful lot of wealth in his life, and who had an incredible amount of responsibility. I obviously feel awful for his family and friends, but the thought that really struck me was, "wow...how glad I am to be a "regular" income earning citizen".

How important it is, especially these days, to know where our worth comes from...the LORD. The King of Kings! The CREATOR of this entire universe and beyond! The one and only true and living GOD! My heavenly Father who cares for me sincerely and purposefully sent His SON to save my soul. WOW...money? Who needs it!!!!

I know for believers this makes perfect sense, but if anyone who is reading this doesn't know who Jesus really is, still consider the fact that money does not fulfill...never will. What fulfills us is relationship. RELATIONSHIP. And I have found that the number one most fulfilling relationship I can have is the one with my Creator. He knows me better than I will ever know myself. Just like a scientist knows his inventions better than anyone. Makes sense to me!

So what do you want~ money? or relationship?

:) YOUR COMMENTS WELCOME!

Woohoo! I'm blown away by how fast this year has gone by.

So, we're leaving Monday night(22nd) for Oklahoma, and I just can't wait to be around family and friends. It will be a quick trip, packed with good times, food, nieces and nephews...the best! I am thrilled to be getting away for a little bit.

Looking back on 2008, I am pretty overwhelmed by how God has blessed us. We are both making a living in a time when you can't take your job for granted. I am still singing and writing, and I thank the Lord for opening some new doors in that area. Jesse volunteers on the Williamson County Rescue Squad and really likes it. His business is still growing as well, thank you Jesus!

In 2009, we will be pushing my music really hard again. We really feel like God is giving us renewed 'energy' for it, and we're excited to get moving. In fact, if anyone reading this knows of a music venue near you that books bands, let me know...we may just head your way! Any music outlet is great...I'm focusing on Country and Christian music, but you all know I love singing some old school Etta James and other classics too!

We have become a part of an amazing group of people at Music City Assembly of God in Nashville, and have the greatest small group ever! You can't beat having a bunch of friends who are fervently seeking to do God's will...it's awesome serving with them.

If 2009 brings you through Nashville, please let us know! We always love seeing old friends and making new ones.

Merry Christmas and Happy 2009!

Stop.

STOP!!!! Just stop whatever you are doing, thinking, planning. Just take a minute....no take several minutes. It's really worth it!

Psalm 46:10"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

So lately God has been really wooing me to come near Him. It has been a very tangible sense of His calling me close. I love it! The verse I have above just goes along with what I've been feeling in my spirit. I bet most, if not all, of you have read, heard, or used "Be still and know that I am God" at some point in your life. If you seriously, consciously make it a point to get in His presence...whether by finding a quiet place to read His word, pray, listen to worship,etc...you will reap the rewards. And these rewards are heavenly!

So, have we all just left off the other part of verse 10? "I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." That is not a question...it is a FACT! God doesn't just say things...He means it 100% of the time. So be excited! He WILL be exalted among the nations... He WILL be exalted in the earth! I for one want to be one of those who exalts Him NOW.

I have reaped the benefits of being still. And for those who know me, you know I am not naturally a 'still' person! In fact, when I first tried it, I found my mind wandered to everything but the Lord. (what am I going to make for dinner, will that agent call today, did I ever send in that check, etc) For me, the tool that helped me relax and focus was music (imagine that). Sometimes it is just listening, sometimes it's getting on my keyboard and having my own, private worship time with my audience of One! But whatever it is...the goal is to get to a place where I can just BE. Just BE and listen and wait. That's all!

Try it...try it today!! You CAN make a plan to do that. Ask someone to watch the kiddos for 30 minutes, stick food in the oven and then take a timer with you so you don't worry about dinner, or (drumroll please) skip that episode of your tv show... (I know~I'm going crazy here!)

Do it, and then please tell me about your experience. Once you've been there, let God continue to woo you into His presence...often.

Psalm 46:10"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

Most rewarding show ever!

WOW! On October 4th at 7 o'clock, we put on what I will remember as the most rewarding show I ever did. Not only did I have a great time watching Bloodline, a local band of teenagers put on a great opener, but I had a blast performing for folks I know and love. Most of all, I felt this wonderful sense of giving back to a lady who has given so much to me and lots of others. Jan Sturdevant is one of the strongest, most caring ladies I've known. She is fighting cancer....for the third time. Being able to encourage her emotionally and raise some money too, is such a great feeling!! I am not one of those folks who is able to send a check for thousands of dollars...because I don't have it! BUT what I COULD do is use the talents God blessed me with to RAISE something for her....yay!

The show was a great success, I sold our of cds, sold some shirts, some special items in Jan's honour, and just had a great time.

The best part is that I got to visit with her on Monday, after all the work was done. I was thrilled to get to see her and just hope I brought a little joy to her day. I love my cheerleading coach, algebra teacher, friend. Get well, Jan: WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN. And we will be praying!!

If you'd like to help raise more money for her medical bills, you can go to http://www.gentryphotos.myphotoalbum.com

and order pictures of the show...your donation will go to Jan's special account. THANK YOU!!!

September 11th

This morning as I drove to work, and at exactly 8:46 am, the station I was listening to stopped and had a moment of silence. After that, came "God Bless America" sung by Celine, which is a beautiful, powerful, emotional rendition...and finally "Where Were You When the world stopped Turning" by Alan Jackson. It may not sound like much, but for some reason it was a very moving expression of just honoring those who went through such a tragedy, and those who continue to press on after surviving that day.

I was looking around at the other commuters and noticing a solemn feel throughout...just really moving. As all this happened, I started feeling this sense of unity among Americans...one that I haven't felt in a long while. "The day that changed America" affected all of us, whether or not we realize it. I think there is something to be said for just pausing, recognizing the strength we have proven to have as a nation, and humbly asking God for His grace that is desperately needed by a people who have turned their back on Him.

2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

There is peace, love, joy, fulfillment...everything we need as human beings is found in Jesus! Once you experience it, there is just no question! Are you living your life as a reflection of Jesus? Because you know as well as I do that these times of remembering tragedy also become times of questioning faith, questioning the Lord, questioning everything! We need to be able to stand firm in HIM, and remember: If we push God out of our country, He will, as a gentleman, step away, hard as that may be. We have, as a nation, pushed Him right out! And sadly, we do reap what we sow.

Those of us who know our need for Him, HAVE GOT TO INTERCEDE on behalf of our nation!!!! Don't take it lightly, that if you know the truth, you are ACCOUNTABLE to it! And the great part is that the Lord provides the grace needed to be able to even stand and talk with Him. It is truly miraculous! Don't let that pass without really soaking it in: YOU CAN TALK TO GOD, AND HE WILL LISTEN! WOW!

So today, as you remember the day that changed us all, take the time to ask the Lord to continue to heal, strengthen, forgive us as a people, a nation who desperately needs Him.

Current Motto?

"The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak."
— Hans Hofmann

Okay. Now...take a second, wait....and now go back and read it again, slowly and with intent. (I'll wait.)

So, when I read this kind of thing, I immediately start thinking of how I fit into it...or how it fits in with me. I think the fact that is says "the ability" makes me a little uncomfortable...do I have that ABILITY? Am I ABLE to do this simplification process? After all this analizing and wondering, I realize that obviously I'm not simplifying things at all, and that this will take some work!

So, 'to eliminate the unnecessary' is the goal of the next few weeks. Where will I begin? Well, I tend to work well with lists, so maybe I will start by making a honest, no cheating list of the things that I've been spending time on...even if it's just thinking about them. Everything from dinner on Friday, to music selections, to merchandise for shows, to who's doing good in America's Got Talent, to my hubby's newest business venture, to my need for time with friends, to missing my family, to where is my dog going to stay while I travel next week, to buying a gift, to 'oh, I'm hungry for lunch'....you can see how our brains can get very bogged down and unable to focus!

I'm going to make that list, then cross out the things that are taken care of or don't matter so much. I'll also write next to some how I plan to complete the task, etc. Then the list will dwindle, and the important, "necessary things may speak".

What do you think?

Going home...for good reason

I just cannot wait to be back at Byng High School~ singing for my friends! I'm thrilled that this is an event that will bring together so many talented folks to help a much deserving person. Jan Sturdevant, not only my favorite teacher & my cheerleading coach. but my friend...is battling cancer once again. We must stand behind, beside, around her and help however we can. Right now the best thing to do it so keep praying for her to be strengthened and encouraged...and also to help financially. So many are doing things to help with the necessary expenses that come with this situation. My contribution is to use what God has blessed me with, my music, to bring together a lot of people and raise some money! We will have a great time, play some new music and several you will know...and have special items for sale that you won't want to miss. Please come. This will be a wonderful night. :) Let me know if you want to/can help!

Design Re-mix on no Dime!

Ladies and gentlemen~ for me this is long anticipated. Posting these before and after pictures from my hard work over Labor Day weekend, means I've accomplished something. Yay! Now, although I have to give the disclaimer that the dramatic results are not as exciting in pictures, I do hope you can see that there were some productive changes made. So, here we go!

This will be the front living room...before, very casual and no color pallet. Now, a more formal area, with a retro color pallet and concept:

Just behind the "formal" living area is the dinning room. LOL)...and go to the "sitting room". Before, this was a mess of colors, styles, broken shelves, no real mantle...just a random shelf sitting on the wooden rods that stick out of the wall...kind of a mess:
Now, a cabin-like feel, to go with the HUGE fish hanging above the fire place...Jesse caught it! So I rolled with that theme...and tada!
So we go to the master bedroom, where NOTHING had been planned out, as you can see here:

I established a color pallet and went with it all the way:

Last but not least...the room people stay in if they are guests at the "Lambert Bed & Breakfast"...sorry I don't have before pics, but here it is, ready for the next folks who come our way!

So, there you have it! The rooms you have not visited: the guest bath and 1/2 bath...nothing exciting; the study...not finished~was used as a 'holding room' for all the stuff while I worked; the media room & crafting corner (basement)...not finished yet.

That's it! Yep, we got beautiful Picaso Travertine tile, and painted the walls, some new hardware....ta-da!

I'm so happy with it. So...now I'm up for more! And...(drumroll please)....I have a plan! What??? Rebecca is planning ahead and not just "diving right in"? Yep, I have a plan...and I plan to complete what I begin. THIS WEEKEND!

We have lived in our Tennessee home for nearing 3 years...and I have yet to feel like I have really worked at the interior decorating. If you know me at all, you know I enjoy decorating, design, crafting, painting, and overall "nesting" in my home. I love it! However, Nashville has a way of sending musicians, artists, songwriters into a whirwind of insanely trying to "make it" (which is another topic altogether). So I have decided, "No more! I will not deny myself the right to act like a normal 'house-wife' any longer!" LOL

This weekend I will embark on a journey. Wonderful, fun, challenging, creative, fabulous, drive-Jesse-crazy, rewarding journey filled with paint, elbow grease, power tools, etc. Yay! I'm tackling my house. The plan is: during each half of each day, I will empty ONE room at a time of nick-nacks, etc, arrange furniture in a way that makes much more sense (removing some furniture if necessary), and then following some very basic decorating guidelines as I fill each room with PLANNED items. You know, color-pallets to stick to, grouping like-items together, having a FOCAL point in each room, using lighting to create an atmosphere, fun stuff!

So, why am I telling you this? Because now I'm accountable! (Or insane...) Next week I'll let you know of my progress...hopefully including some pictures...and see what you think! And hopefully Jesse will be impressed with the results. :)

So...are you thinking this girl's out of it? OR.....are you INSPIRED?? A little??? Do something at YOUR house this weekend...it feels great! I love giving ideas. Just ask!

Some of my favorite quotes.

Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders & says....... I am so emotionally exhausted. For those of you who have ever pursued a dream that is ridiculously out of reach, you may actually read this and not think I'm insane.

Friday I started to feel a little homesick, so I was emotionally "on edge"...meaning I could cry at the drop of a bucket. Jesse took me to dinner, and I was just not my bubbly self. Then he simply said, "I miss my grandma"...and I lost it! Sitting in the middle of the restaurant, and I just burst into tears. It was like the tears were just right there waiting for the opportune moment to burst out. Wow...Jesse was a little taken by surprise, to say the least. You should've seen him. His expression was a mixture of "oh, poor baby" and "what the heck?". I'm sure he wonders sometimes just what he got himself into...but I'm so glad he sticks it out!

He then took me to a movie, and after the movie I got a voice mail that normally would have been just another voice mail...but for some reason, it was different this time. It caused me to question everything I'm doing, have been doing, am planning, etc. Do you ever have a time like that? I literally got home and cried like a big baby! As women, I think it is really easy to just blame it on our "sensitive femininity". While I think this is in part true, I've found that the enemy of my soul really knows when I am most vulnerable to attacks. Now you're thinking...wow....Rebecca, what are you talking about?

Whatever your "religion" is, you cannot deny that sometimes you feel like you are under attack, either emotionally, physically, financially, all of the above...and I can very assuredly tell you that satan will and DOES take every opportunity to steal, kill, & destroy. (see John 10:10)

So here's the lesson I learned. Had I been in my Lord's word lately? Was I really seeking Him with all my heart? The answer, sadly is no. Not recenly. I had slacked off. You better believe I am getting back in the game as I should, seeking, praying, reading. So, I am actually thankfull for this little "emotional breakdown" I had. God used it to call me closer. And now, I feel a song coming on. YAY!!!

Kiddos, or no kiddos?

So some of you may be surprised to know that Jesse and I weren't sure for a while whether or not to have kids. (I know...insane, right???) Now, I'll let you get past the shock of it.

Okay, so really. I think most of it is because we are just so stinking happy the way we are! I hear about people who say "something's missing" and then they have a baby...which is fine, and honestly, natural. However, we just don't feel like ANYTHING is missing. We could both be perfectly happy just the two of us. That is a blessing! We have been married over 6 years and still REALLY like each other!

Anyhow...we finally had a talk and we are going to have kids! It will still be a couple years, but we have a plan, which feels great! I'm pretty excited to just know that being a mommy IS in my future. Yay! I believe there is a natural yearning for every woman to want to be a mommy, a nurterer, etc.

Also, Jesse & I both really have a heart for orphans. Adoption is something we talked about even before we were married. I know God has put this desire on our hearts...and will continue to pray about how to proceed in His will with it. There are over 15,000,000 children in this world that don't have anyone to call family. Did you catch that??? over FIFTEEN MILLION!

John 14:18 "I will not leave you orphaned. I am coming for you."

My mommy gave me some great, simple advice, which I will pass on to you: "God will definitely let you know when/if kids should be added to your little nest and you will both be totally good with it when that happens. Don't let ANYONE push you either for or against having children...that is YOUR decision alone, to be made under the Lord's guidance."

So, there you go. Lots of fun stuff going on in my heart right now. I love my Lord more everyday, and know that He guides us in every aspect of our lives. I hope you let Him do the same for you!

Nashville Sounds Game

And the award for "Most Goofy Couple" goes to.... :) We are at Greer Stadium where this last Saturday, 8-9-08 I sang the National Anthem. We were so pumped up last night as we watched our guys swim the relay. The French team had publicized in newspapers, etc, that they were going to "smash the Americans" at the relay.

HA!!!!! While they did swim really well, our team won the gold!!!! They had to swim their hearts out to do so...and it was amazing. While Michael Phelps gave us a great start, the guy who deserves another Gold Medal is Jason Lezak...who really just gave it the most amazing power ending...he beat the world record (held by the French, I might add) by FOUR SECONDS!!!!!! That is amazing...I'm just so proud of them.

It was so exciting watching the celebration that followed. And...almost as fun to watch the blank look on the faces of the French swimmers who had so proudly proclaimed "we're going to smash the Americans"! I will re-state, however, that they swam amazingly well too.

BUT WE WON! Tonight I will watch as Michael Phelps works to get more GOLD...in his effort to beat another record. Awesome!

What a 9 month old taught me

Okay, so here's the deal...this little guy (who I like to call my boyfriend) is Jackson, son of my great friends, Stephen & Kelli Taylor. I know, he's just adorable, right? And of course it doesn't hurt that he's happy with ME!

BUT...that's not the point today. I was just thinking about the fact that he doesn't have to WORRY! He just trusts that mommy and daddy love him and will provide him everything he needs. Yeah, he might cry when he's hungry or needing a diaper change, etc...but it's not like he's thinking, "Oh, no!! I wonder if I'll get fed!! Will they change me??" NO...he's just saying, "Hey, guys...uh...it's time! I'm ready for food! I'm not comfortable..." He KNOWS he's taken care of. He doesn't worry about stuff. Oh to be there again!

So, you may wonder what in the world I'm getting at. What I'm saying is we need to be that way with God...OUR Father! How many times do you worry needlessly about stuff? Does it help? I doubt it!

Matthew 6:25-34
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Seriously...just give it a try. DO NOT WORRY!!! It brings a freedom I cannot describe...and you are obeying God when you STOP WORRYING! It's awesome!

I am by no means saying I've mastered this, but I've made the conscious effort, and it's working. I just pray instead...then I KNOW it's taken care of. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ON THIS EARTH IS YOUR RELATIONSHIPS...not your money, bills, house, clothes, food. NONE of that can go with you to heaven....but YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY CAN!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!

Oh, and when you want to worry about everything you DON'T have together, do this instead: count your blessings! (See my first blog post). Doing that will ROCK your world! :)

The one that started it all...

THIS IS THE BLOG THAT STARTED IT ALL. I had posted this blog on my myspace page at the end of June. I had so many people tell me that it either I just have to tell you how it touched them, inspired, changed, motivated, entertained them! I felt (again) blessed to hear all that, and have decided that if that's what a blog can accomplish, why not? So I am starting this "real" blog in hopes that at some point YOU are blessed, touched, inspired, changed, motivated, and yes, entertained by it. Happy reading!!

(From the end of June, 2008)

I just have to tell you how BLESSED I am! I was sitting here thinking of the many GOOD things in my life, and I wondered, "How in the world did I get here?" Some of you know I've come a long way...God is so amazing, and His grace is so powerful! I can surely attest to it! So I guess it just hit me how far He has brought me, and I am just THANKFUL! And....I just want to glorify Him by "counting my blessings".

Jesse and I will celebrate SIX years of wonderful wedded BLISS on July 9th.

My birthday is on Monday!!!! (I'm 21....again)

My family is closer than ever...and THAT'S CLOSE!!! We love each other so much and are always ready to hang out again...

We have the coolest, most entertaining doggie in the universe, Diesel. (he's 3)

He has given us amazing friends here...we really feel like this is home!

We have lived in an outstanding place in Brentwood, TN for 2 1/2 years.

I have a great car that always starts and looks cute, too! :)

Jesse's business is doing well and keeping him busy, and he's training for the volunteer Fire Dept...GO BABY!!!

I have a great day-job where my co-workers are a joy to be around.

I have met so many successful music pros, and am so excited to be in their company.

God has closed a LOT of doors. Thank you, Lord...I would have gone through the wrong one, for sure!

We have had a lot of visitors at our house from Oklahoma and elsewhere...we jokingly call our house the "Lambert Bed & Breakfast"...and we LOVE IT!

So...I could sit here and tell you all the "rough" times we've been through, how hard the music business is, etc. But the truth is, when you get down to it...that HE is in control. Looking back it is just so obvious...and when we mess things up, He somehow brings good out of it. All we have to do is follow Him. He loves us so much, and He can't wait to bless us!!!
